On the bands long overdue day off Rick DeJesus of Adelitas Way was kind enough to spend a few minutes with me. We began the interview as he walks through the mall stopping by an F.Y.E to make sure their CD is on the shelves…now that’s dedication to your work. We then dive into the interview and I found out about the recent shows that have really brought the band together as a force to be reckoned with…”the bands getting better and better.” The band’s resume is getting bigger and bigger they are getting ready to play shows such as Summerfest and The Carnival of Madness Tour. Rick says “I am excited to play the Carnival of Madness Tour and to share the stage with bands such as Theory of a Deadman.”
How do the guys keep the momentum going and make each show better than the last one well Rick explains “we feed off of each other with writing new songs and set the bar high for ourselves.” That they do, with the shows they are doing and the performance quality that comes out of them at every show it is not surprising that fans just want more and more. As Rick states, “we want to be talked about seriously.” When asked if there are any other bands that they want to share the stage with, the big one was Metallica and Rick says “I would love to play with the Foo Fighters”…now that’s a show I definitely don’t want to miss.
Of course one of those questions to all of the struggling bands out there is what would you tell them? Rick didn’t hesitate when he said “be ready to work hard, it’s not going to happen by luck.” He continued on saying that bands need to learn that no matter what you have to keep playing and push yourselves harder each day.
Now being a rockstar it just comes with the territory that there will be an occasional run in with the police. Rick explains there has been a couple of run-ins with the police but everything always works out and “we have mad respect for the police and what they do.” So all of you soon to be rockstars, fans and our men and women in blue keep your eyes and ears open for the hardest working guys in rock and roll…Adelitas Way.
